Students Gained Valuable Insights During Field Study Visit to Meteorological Stations at MBMIST and Umar Musa Yaradua Airport

KCHST, Field Study Visit on the 19th February, 2024.

 A multidimensional learning experience unfolded as students from Kebram College of Health Sciences and Technology embarked on a comprehensive field study visit to meteorological stations at Muhammad Buhari Meteorological Institute of Science and Technology (MBMIST) and Umar Musa Yaradua Airport, as well as NAMA (Nigerian Airspace Management Agency) Tower in the same Airport. The excursion provided the students with invaluable insights into atmospheric science, meteorological instruments, aviation operations, and air traffic management, while also shedding light on the implications of climate change on health.

The visit involves, The lecturer Abdulrahman Aminu, Harry Udoh Mfon (Registrar ) as well as Director Academic Planning Alh Isah Jidda

The field work visit commenced with an immersive presentation focusing on climate change and health, as a part of this enriching experience, by Mr Muhammad B Matazu (HOD Meteorology, MBMIST). 

Takeaway Package:

As a token of appreciation and to further enrich the learning experience, The HOD provided a takeaway package comprising Nimet Publications such as Seasonal Climate Prediction (SCP), educational materials, and resources related to climate change and health handed over to the lecturer Abdulrahman Aminu, who also expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality extended by the hosting organization and added that the materials will serve as valuable references for continued exploration and reflection beyond the field work visit. He also congratulated the Institute for the full accreditation being offered by NBTE and wishes for fruitful collaborations in the future to address pressing challenges in climate change and related diseases.

The Registrar added that “This field work visit has not only been educational but has also laid the foundation for a strong relationship between our institutions,” 

Students gained experience in weather instruments, monitoring and forecasting techniques,  under the guidance of Mr Garba Anas.

In addition to exploring meteorological instruments, students had the opportunity to listen to briefing from Mr Ibrahim Buba and Con. at Umar Musa Yaradua Airport. Students were also introduced to dynamic aviation operations. They witnessed the activities involved in flight scheduling, takeoff, landing. importance of weather briefings for pilots, and the role of air traffic controllers in ensuring the safety and efficiency of air travel. A highlight of the visit was the tour of the NAMA Tower, a symbol of technological innovation in air traffic management.  

This field study visits to meteorological stations, airport, and the NAMA Tower exemplified interdisciplinary learning, provided students with a various understanding of complex systems and global challenges. Involves discovering new knowledge and return to their academic field with a renewed sense of purpose, eager to make meaningful contributions to the fields of public health in the face of climate change.

First Admission List, Commencement of Registration and Classes for 2023/2024 Academic Session.

This is to inform all candidates who applied for admission into KCHST for 2023/2024 academic session that the FIRST LIST of admissions into Diploma programmes of the College have been released. Check the List below.

All candidates whose names are on the FIRST LIST are expected to proceed with their registration on Monday, 4th December, 2023. Follow the Guidelines below

  1. Listed candidates should proceed to collect their Admission Letters from Registrar’s office at No. 13 Mani Road Katsina.
  2. Payments (Acceptance Fee, Payment Reference No. Card, Medical & Sport) and collection of Acceptance Letter.
  3. Verification and Submission of Original documents at the college admin block as well as submission of the photocopy of each document at the various places as indicated on the verification form by the verification officer.
  4. Successfully screened candidates who have paid their above charges get access to the portal and should proceed with the payment of tuition fee through their dashboards. Visit portal.kebramhs.com to access your dashboard.
